Bodhran is a variety of drum with one end opened and the player uses his hand to produce the sound on the drum. The other end is covered with synthetic membranes or skins. It generally takes the form of a frame and the user can regulate the sound effects with the help of his hand.
Doumbek Drums of Africa are constructed with ceramic and are handmade drums. Because of this the appearance can vary in a wide range as each product is the creation of an artistic hand. The covered end can be of any synthetic material adapted to whether conditions.
Chinese gong has the appearance of a disc and are flat in shape. Here the main difference is the use of a mallet for beating on the drum to produce the rhythm of music. They are mainly constructed using bronze or brass and are purely metallic substances.
