Create a Web Design to Keep Customers
03/10/2008
With your web design education and skills, you are ready to get started in creating the most amazing and successful website ever! Chances are you learned what you should and should not do in web design but sometimes, we become a little overzealous and forget the rules. For starters, with any type of web design, specifically ecommerce where you will be showing customers what they can buy, you want to make the site readable. This means you need to avoid tiny print, irritating boxes, and fancy fonts. Remember, not every customer is going to have perfect, 20/20 vision. Therefore, you want to make the site readable, using large enough print and simple fonts.
Another key element in the success of your website will be the way in which pages are navigated. You need to keep navigation easy to find and easy to follow. Design your web pages so that each link, new page, drop-down, and so on, is clear to the customer. If you have people come to your website to buy merchandise but they have to fumble through the entire ecommerce site to find what they want, they will quickly leave. The easier a site is to navigate the more traffic it will see. You want the overall experience on your site to be positive. Therefore, make getting around a quick and easy process, allowing transactions to be completed quicker, thus increasing revenue.
